Rules Analysis
If the thrower attempts a pass before the check, or a violation of 10.2 is called, the pass does not count regardless of whether it is complete or incomplete, and possession reverts back to the thrower.
A player cannot call a violation of 10.2 because a player on their own team (including themselves) is in the wrong position, or is moving before the check.
A player may call a violation regarding the check if an opponent:
A player cannot call a violation as per rule 10.7 because a player on their own team (including themselves) is in the wrong position, or is moving before the check.
attempts a pass without an appropriate check as per 10.6; or
After this violation call any pass does not count regardless of whether it is complete or incomplete, and possession reverts back to the thrower (unless 16.3 applies).
