This article argues that the traditional vertical stack strategy in ultimate frisbee is outdated and inefficient in comparison to alternative strategies that have been recently developed. The article explains that, due to the nature of the game, a better approach would be for teams to use cutters to initiate the game and then switch to a horizontal stack when the disc enters the end zone. The article further argues that by adopting this strategy, teams can gain more flexibility and be more creative with their offensive plays. Ultimately, the article makes the case that a shift away from vertical stacks to more innovative strategies can lead to better game play for teams of all levels.
